Heartlines

''He could have been a poet, a song writer..''

''He loves words, stories, they hold special kind of beauty to him."

"He keeps the light burning in the late of night, to keep out the dark."

"He has loved several men, but none like Nathaniel."

"His greatest regret was not to be able to save Nathaniel."

"There are nights when The Void calls him."

"Emmett, they set fire to his mother and made him watch."

"He is ashamed of himself, it is a sin to love another man."

"In his heart there is gentleness, he doesn't believe every heretic is beyond hope."

"Sometimes he teaches letters to children unable to read."

Past

"The child was born 1814 - Month of Hearths - 15th Day, a small thing and for a mother whose profession is one of the most despicable sort, I pity the boy already."

Emmett was born in a poorhouse where his mother had no choice than to go when it became painfully clear no one would have pregnant woman be their burden, and the man who fathered the child wanted nothing to do with her or the boy. She only spend week in there before taking her young baby with her and much of Emmett's early days and weeks were spend in rundown abandoned apartments where she broke in to get some shelter, she only left Emmett for brief moments when she was forced to steal things to keep herself fed.

"He looks sickly, and compared to the other of his age he is very small child and cries often. Still, he has this hunger to live, I can see it in his eyes, so bright and curious."

One can argue that Nettie would have been kinder to her son if she had smothered the babe when he was born, Emmett's life was full of hungry cold nights spend alone when his mother was away and there was no one to watch the lonely child. Still she had decided to keep him, hoping that one day his father might take enough pity for his bastard son and set him at least to some decent job.

Lots of WIP here - More will be added slowly.
